If Liam was still alive after surgery he was likely to be without his sight, his speech, his hearing, his mobility, his brain function or any combination of all 5. But none of that mattered then. He just wanted to be alive. If he was alive he was winning, and cancer was losing. He underwent a life threatening 12 hour operation. It was followed by 7 weeks of radical chemo-radiotherapy but in between he got meningitis and a deep vein thrombosis. Both of these nearly killed him by themselves. By the end of 2002 he simply had no business still being alive, but somehow, he was. 10 years later his amazing survival has been outdone by his even more incredible recovery. In 2012 Liam ran his first marathon, post-cancer. Now he has written down his remarkable story for the first time. This book will take you through his life to the point of cancer and then beyond. One man and his battle with this incredible disease and how he channeled everything he had into fighting to the end. This is an inspirational story for everyone. It is a story of great hope and encouragement. Liam Ryan has become the living proof that no matter how much the odds are stacked against you, they can always be overturned.

Life one million ... a required read for all!

This book is a testament to the power of humanity, to what God gave us, to LIFE .. it is a story of life, lives changed by the knowledge that has come from facing death head on, that life is itself important. Liam is not a hero (I say this as someone who knows him), he is not a miracle maker or possessor of anything hugely outstanding, he is someone who through his own life has embraced the power of the life we have been given and used that to his and others benefit. Not every cancer story ends this way, nor does that of everyone with Liam's convictions, but this story reminds you what we are here for, whether you believe in God or anything else spiritual or not. We are here for ourselves, our familiies, each other and to experience life. The humour and honesty in the writing means you will finish it quickly and feel good about yourself in ways you may not have done before.
Every home or family should have a copy ... I keep mine opposite the smallest room in the house on a bookshelf where visitors can graze for something to read, and they invariably do and ask to take it away with them!

I love this book and the author

I love this book and the author. The inspiration he has given me has been incredible. His book not only tells his story, but also gives a tremendous insight to his life in Ireland. I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to meet Liam and his wife, Pam, in person. For the past couple of years, my highlight in my life has been to visit Ballina/Killaloe, Ireland where he resides. I would anyone facing life-threatening situations to read this book. I give it 5+ stars.
