About the Author
Dr. Joycelyn Pollock is a Distinguished Professor in the School of Criminal Justice at Texas State University. Dr. Pollock's many published works include WOMEN'S CRIMES, CRIMINOLOGY AND CORRECTIONS; CRIMINAL LAW; PRISONS AND PRISON LIFE; and MORALITY STORIES. She received a Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Albany and a J.D. from the University of Houston. She received the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences Fellows Award in 2015 for contributions to criminal justice research and education.

A textbook I will actually keep

If you're looking at this product, it's probably because it's a required text for a college course and this review does not matter. You are going to buy it regardless. Still, I will offer some insight. This book is similar in many ways to other ethics textbooks and presents basically an introduction to ethics with a criminal justice slant. I used this in a graduate course and actually ENJOYED the textbook, especially the introductions with real-life examples of ethically dilemmas and the various scenarios scattered throughout the book.

Another great book

This is the second in a series of workbooks for the SAI Speed Math Academy's Abacus Mind Math Course. It provides 10 additional weeks of daily math practice problems and mental exercises.

All of their books are well written, nicely illustrated, easy to read, understand and follow. They make learning easy and fun.

This is a workbook for daily exercise and practice. The Instruction Book covers the "how to do it" part of the course.

All of these SAI books are well worth the price paid. Highly recommended.

Love this book! Concepts are introduced in perfect order and the skill building week/practice work is very helpful. I used the workbook 1 and 2 to practice on my mind math and I loved it. Perfectly organized and it was very easy for me to build my skills. My child is having fun with this. I think the shapes puzzle is interesting. Wish they had more of these. It is nice to have an answer key, but I feel it should have been in the Instruction book.

About the Author
Luke A. Nichter is an Associate Professor of History at Texas A & M University, Central Texas, and a noted expert on the Nixon tapes. Nichter's books include The Nixon Tapes: 1971-1972 (co-authored with Douglas Brinkley) and book-length biographies of Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, and George W. Bush for the First Men, America's Presidents series. Nichter is a former founding executive producer of C-SPAN's American History TV and his work is periodically reported on by the New York Times, Washington Post, and the Associated Press. His website, www.nixontapes.org, offers free access to all 3,000 hours of publicly released Nixon tapes as a public service.

En otras palabras: que paradigmas cambian. Por lo tanto, si uno no cambia la ropa (s�mbolos), lo menos que puede hacer es remendarla.

El escritor argentino Jorge Luis Borges en una de las conferencias dijo que Carlyle:
Cuenta la historia de un amor malogrado de una mujer joven, quien abandona a su novio dej�ndole a solas con la noche. Luego describe conversaciones con este fil�sofo imaginario, insertando a la vez largos extractos de un libro que nunca existi� llamado Sartor, el sastre. Naturalmente, como el editor es el que da los extractos de ese libro imaginario, esto explica el t�tulo de la novela: El sastre remendado.

Carlyle emplea un estilo literario que puede ser exasperante para muchos lectores. El estilo es oscuro, irreverente, extra�o, exc�ntrico, y a menudo francamente socarr�n. Tales aberraciones literarias ofendieron a lectores exigentes que encontraron en la obra una visi�n atea, adem�s de otras ideas perniciosas.

Dejando en claro en primer lugar que los comentarios que siguen son absolutamente subjetivos, he de reconocer que este libro considerado un texto can�nico por muchos cr�ticos literarios, a mi no logr� atraparme. Quiz�s aluda a cuestiones que se me escapan completamente, pero toda esa larga disquisici�n acerca de la "Filosof�a de los Trajes" y de su famoso impulsor, el Prof.Di�genes Teufelsdr�ckh, aun cuando no sea completamente desatinada, para mi gusto no alcanza la profundidad sat�rica o cr�tica que justifique el tiempo invertido en la lectura del texto.Me permito suponer que puede ser un texto interesante para estudiosos de la literatura inglesa, pero que carece de la vigencia de muchas otras obras de la misma �poca.
