About the Author
Robert Bradnock is an international authority on India. He was born in India in 1943 and went back overland in 1966 as a research student at Cambridge, and made the first of his many visits to Sri Lanka in the same year. He is head of the department of geography at the University of London’s world famous School of Oriental and African Studies. A Bengali by birth, Roma was brought up in Calcutta where she graduated in English. Roma’s Hindi and Bengali and Robert’s basic Tamil see them through even remote corners comfortably.

Frustrating guide

MANY HOURS IN REVIEW

There are positive aspects to this guide book, but the guide can prove to be really frustrating in the early hours of pursuing it.

1) Highly inaccurate collectibles section - sure there is a map and a picture of each collectible, but a lot of collectibles are not marked accurately on the map and even when it is, you sometimes find the screenshot to be missing said collectible too (sometimes the screenshot shows the collectible but nothing is actually there in game - see attached screenshot).

2) ... and it is extremely weak even assuming it is accurate - the guide doesn't tell you how to get to the collectible, you have to figure out the platforming yourself (side note: platforming mostly becomes trivial once you get the Grappling Hook at Survivor Rank 12, before the Grappling Hook though it can be quite challenging to figure out how to get the top of certain buildings, particularly one such building hosting an easter egg/developer weapon at the top.)

3) Even the side quests are full of inaccuracies - e.g. early sidequest Mother's Day is so significantly different from what is described from the guide, that you'll have a good chance of being stuck and misled by the useless guide.

4) Character development chapter is next-to-useless - other than the XP/progression table, the rest of the information is just reproducing what is clearly visible in game. No actual guide or advice on how to develop your character.

Some of the good things about the guide:

1) Pretty and nice formatting

2) Some of the "guide" portion w.r.t. main mission line and challenges are helpful, although it is overwhelmingly a textual description (and sometimes still missing the crucial piece of information guiding you through where most people seem to get stuck at). YouTube videos will generally be more helpful and reliable.

3) At least the Crafting chapter tells you where to find the Blueprints
Side note: after having made a lot more progress through the game, I would say the Blueprints guide suffers from some of the same problems in that it doesn't distinguish between Blueprints that are gated behind a sidequest versus those that are just lying there waiting for you to find them. It also suffers from minor issues with some degrees of inaccuracy and being non-exhaustive. But, it is ultimately still helpful and you will likely find more Blueprints relying on the guide than without utilizing it.

4) Nice goodies section documenting the easter eggs (not exhaustive, e.g. no mention of the hidden Plants vs Zombie easter egg) and developer tips

p.s: when I edited the review, the screenshot that was originally attached to the review disappeared. The screenshot contained an example of one of multiple inaccuracies within this game guide, where in-game content is inconsistent with what the guide illustrates.

One of the worst guides I've ever bought

Absolutely terrible guide. The walk through is very incomplete with missing steps everywhere, a lot of side mission walk throughs are completely inaccurate, collectible maps are hit and miss (mostly a miss) and after trying to use this guide for a couple of hours it ended up in the trash. Do not waste your money! You'll be much better off Googling any questions you may have or hints you may want. This guide should never have been published.

For collectable hunting... absolutly useless.

Was generally good. I purchased this so I would not have to use the internet to find all of the collectables. This guide, however, was clearly made before the game was finished. Some of the places mentioned in the guide do not exist in the game making it very hard to locate the collectable in or near the nonexistent landmark. Also, some of the collectables are not labeled correctly in the guide, so the game says you got one thing when the guide says you got another. Just bad.
